Athos isn't thought to be dead, he tells other people that the Comte de la Fere is dead, even though he is the comte. That's because he's, (oh,no, poor Athos) traumatized by his wife "betraying" him, like she wouldn't be traumatized herself after he hung her, and he wants to forget his past. Here's Athos' problem: He's a control freak who just happens to be sexist because one woman disappointed him, and will never look at a woman again. After he tried to kill this sixteen year old girl, he feels guilty and has a drinking problem. But then when he has a chance to kill her again, he does, first practically stalking her and then "authorizing" the execution, being endowed with this power because I guess he's decided he's a count again.
Margot, I totally agree with your view on Athos. He is so egotistical. I was never really clear on why Milady married him. She seemed like an intelligent woman. I know I would be severely traumatized if I had been through what she had to go through.(talk about your domestic violence!)
Iris, Margot, your both idiots. Irishow do get idea that miladys smart? shes kills every one she meets!!!! and Margot im sick and tired of you tearing athos apart. Question: What would you have done??

Yeah- why did he give it the title of the three musketeers? I really like this book, it's better than anything else I've read from the nineteenth century. But can somebody please tell me why Athos is thought to be dead? or the count de la fere or whatever? some thing to do with lady de winter?<br>
