Dear Agnes, Tom and Ash,<br><br>You have to admit, it is quite a coincidence that the title of this book by Charles Dickens shares the name of my favourite magician. I bet I am not the only person to make this mistake. Although it is kind of embarrassing. And maybe it was more like 180 pages before I got the idea that I might have missed something. I put the book down and now am wondering if it's worth finishing. Do you guys really recommend this book? I'm willing to give it another try.<br><br>Brady

What an idiot! Obviously if it took them 200 pages to realize that it wasn't a biography of David Copperfield the magician, then they must not be very literate. They shouldn't have even picked up the book believeing such a thing.

I've been laughing about this for the last ten minutes. The thought of reading all that way into it before realising beggars belief and being disappointed once you realised is even more dumbfounding. Didn't you at least realise the period it was set in? How old did you think David Copperfield 'the magician' was? Nearly 200? Now that would be a good trick! For goodness sake go and pick the book back up again and enjoy some Dicken's and forget about pretentious illusionists. Your sister Betsy would never have made such a mistake! :-)<br><br>

I agree totally with the complaint regarding the misleading title of this book. I also felt cheated by the book Tom Jones which I expected to be about the Welsh singer, and the book Emma which I thought was an autobiography by Spicegirl Emma Bunton. Fortunately the first two words of the book are "Emma Woodhouse.." so I did not spend 200 pages puzzling over why there are no mentions of Baby Spice

Far as reccomending it goes, yeah, read it. Sounds like you could use a dose of the past in your life. Go for it!

I picked this up thinking it was a biography of David Copperfield, one of the world's greatest ever magicians. But about 200 pages in I realised it is NOT! Don't be fooled like I was. This is actually a novel written a long time ago and has no magicians in it at ALL! What a waste of time....

;)I actually find it an interesting book, but when i first picked it up, i thought it was a piece of trash! :flare: But, i read it two times after that, and finally got what it was saying all this time. David Copperfield is an awesome book, and even though im only 14, it felt like I was back a couple hundred years! LOL :alien:

My God, I didn't realize people could be so innately stupid. The magician changed his name from David Kotkin to David Copperfield, directly from the book.

What kind of stupid person does not know about one of the most famous novels from one of the greatest British writers of all time.
The Bible says that Knowledge shall be increased in the time of the end.
I think, however, that knowledge is definitely being decreased with the advent of people stupid enough to think that Emma is about the Spice Girls!!!!
