I am a portuguese 23 year old "girl", who just read Emma for the 5th time. And I steel dream with her life and think "why couldn't I have lived in this time?". I really think that Jane Austen was a great writer, who could make up not only characters but also lifes, societies and feelings. Every time I read one of her books I feel like I'm entering another age, and I can almost feel everything she describes (even a rain drop). And the funny part is (I mean, the strangest thing is) that I don't really like romance novels. They always seem to end in the same way... Girl meets boy, they fall in love, their families are against it, then they live happly ever after... But with Jane Austen's novels, even when I know how they are going to end, there is always pleasure in the act of reading because of her capacity, as I already said, to create a new world, to wich we are invited every time we read her.
