I just finished 1984 for my English class.. and I have no clue if I liked it or not. That surprises me off the bat. I normally judge a book by the first phrase or first chapter. I started out loving this book, I barely put it down; it scared and fasinated me by making me realize the fears of the world in the 1940's and 1950's, and it kind of made me understand the witch hunt for communists then. Some... Just a little. I loved the book until Julia became involved though. I knew from the first second she was introduced that she would betray Winston and he would end up unhappy and alone because of her. I had a feeling that this book was just a little out of my accelerated 9th grade level, but I enjoyed it, although the ending made me sick to my stomach. How could he just betray what he believed in just becasue of torture??? I had hoped he would've been stronger than that. I wanted him to go against Party, Big Brother, and every single rule that existed. That's just about all I have to say... for now atleast.....<br>
