Like so many others have said before, 1984 is like reality in various Communist Nations. The citizens are forced to obey and respect the single Government party's rules and motives, even if the public hate them. And if they speak out against the Party or Goldstein himself then they will be sent off to the 'Ministry of love' which is a lot like a prison camp. This is very similar to Nazi Germany or Communist Russia where your views and opinions were considered a threat to the Nation. It scares me to imagine myself and everyone else in the world living under one massive international corrupt political Communist party like that of 'Big Brother'. Unfortuantely, though, some people do. George Orwell isn't just telling a story; He's describing real life in the Communist countries.
