I really enjoyed this book. I read during the summer just incase I had to read it for school. It turned out that I didn't have to but the book was none-the-less interesting. <br>It is the eery the references Orwell makes to a government that wages war with other countries in order to prevent them from analyzing their own condition. While this issue was addressed somewhat in the movie "Wag the Dog" it is even closer to reality. Do the wars with Iraq bring anything to mind? <br>The only thing I find somewhat misleading is that people believe this could only happen in a communist society. While it is true that Orwell was writing specifically about the communist ideals the government he presents is really an oligarchy. This is just as likely to happen in democracies (especially in ones where lobbyists owned by big businesses control the decisions to some extent).
