Orwell is a genius. 1984 is not just a novel, warning against totalitarianism. There are also powerful philosophical themes sprinkled throughout the book that many philosophers have pondered over for ages... <br><br>Does reality exists outside the senses? Does the past and future exists outside our memories? Is there an 'objective past' that exists independent of our memories? What is madness? If I have a different viewpoint from everyone else in this world, does that make me wrong/mad? Isn't it possible that I am right and everyone else is wrong?
