1984 terrified me yet i loved it- doesn't Orwell allow the reader to commit doublethink when reading his narrative?
You are made (as a reader) to hate Bigbrother nd the tolatitarian state yet as the novel progresses you empathise with Winston, understanding how he and you could begin to love Big Brother.
Orwell challenges your own convictions as you beocme Winston in the Misitry of love and begin to question your own existence and feelings towards your loved ones.
For me it was not the fear of an omnipotent society but the fear of ones self that made 1984 the unforgettable classic that it is.
