easy on the eyes?

Mr. Admin,
I have been visiting your site for a while now. I've read a few of the books here and would like to thank you for your effort in this page. I only have one concern which is, I feel that the white background is a little hard on the eyes. I constantly find myself highlighting the text to make it easier on my eyes. I feel that a darker background and lighter text would be better on the readers eyes. Just something that I would like you to consider.

I agree that it is a bit hard on the eyes... but wouldn't a darker background make it worse?

it is the high contrast that is a problem.

little trick: yes, highlighting does help, but I find it easier on my eyes when I move the text while I read it...

I prefer a darker background too. The lighter orange that appears as background to posts is nice.
