I don't see what all the fuss is about this book. Things are backward and twisted, and at the end of the book, the one hope becomes exactly the same. The story is about a man who is against what most people think is right, Big Brother. He is against the government for the ENTIRE book. Then, he has a love affair, he joins the "brotherhood", he reads "the book", and for what? To become a part of the crowd. Winston was the only hope for the book showing a turn, showing people would overtake BB. And the only hope becomes tourtured by animals and thats it?!? Another thing is, if Winston was really against BB, then he would have gone down believing that. But he chickened out, and they got in his head and that was the end of him. What a terrible ending. 0/5. zip. nada. not a thing.
0/*****

Big Brother is alive and well. He feeds off the fear of the foolish. He offeres the fearfull protection, under his all seeing eye. If we are ignorant enough to fall for the seductive "Government Protection" we are no better than the characters in Orwell's book. To quote Benjamin Franklin

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safty."
Intresting enough Benjamin Franklin said this in 1759.
