animal farm is not a critique on marxism itself. it a critique on the manipulation of an ideal, maybe an uthopic one, yes, but an ideal that orwell believed in (he was a socialist) and that was manipulated up to the point of mayhem.<br><br>people, like orwell, do not pick on communism just for the sake of it, for it being a radical political idea. they do because of all the terrible things done in its name. they do because, in the end, a system that claims to be perfect for a start is doomed to be manipulated according to each ones vision of perfection. <br><br>although ideal, communism is an uthopia.
