Questions I've Been Afraid to Ask

My last hiatus from LitNet was many months long. Since returning, I have been concerned about the absence of Dreamwoven, who was quite an elderly gentleman, and Prendrelemick, a good old friend of all. I remember a series of posts before I left in which Prendrelemick talked about having a serious health problem. I've been afraid to ask, but can anyone tell me the status of these two good men and venerable LitNetters?

Unfortunately not, Pompey. I miss them too, specially DW. Because of him I learnt a lot about of astronomy, animals, geese and clouds. I hope he is well.

I also loved Prendrelemicks cute poems to his grandson and his comments about books. I remember him posting that he would have to get someone else to shear his sheep for him.

None of us is getting younger and LitNet is not what it used to be.

It is a bit of a Bermuda Triangle, in so far as the only information requested annually by Lit Net is with regard to our age.

So, really unless one has a relative or close friend also on the Forum to update, then it is speculation for the most part as to whether one has stopped contributing or passed on.

Well, we could start an Are You Dead? thread, but I don't think we'll get a very representative response. I shouldn't joke about it, though. If anyone from the Yorkshire/English shepherding community reads this and knows anything about our friend Prendrelemick, please let us know. Dreamwoven was a Brit from Sweden. I wouldn't begin to know who to ask about him.

Anyway, thank you all for your comments. I don't want us to become like those humans in The Time Machine who ignore one another's deaths like herd beasts--another pernicious antihumanism of the social media age. Come back, DW and Prendrelemick. But if you can't, then go in peace.

I saw a large number of Canada Geese massing yesterday, getting to know each other and getting ready for the big migration out of here. It seems like I was just hearing their strange honking and seeing their low Flying V-formations returning for spring. Anyway, I thought of DW, who used to love Canada geese. It was nice to be able to respect someone I so disagreed with politically. I'm sure he must have been an atheist (he was a communist in any case). But I'm just as sure the geese will come 'round again, if you know what I mean. Deus omnia videt.

Mmmm.

I just saw more geese milling about. Pretty soon (here anyway) they will be replaced by roving mobs of prehistoric-looking wild turkies--all hunkered down (as they appear) against the cold. Tick-tock. I miss those two, though. Prend was another one. I disagreed with him about so much--political, literary, you name it. But he was a great friend and a really good guy.
