My main argument about having winter is snow below 3000 feet (914.4 m).

the third mummy movie without Rachel weisz playing evie? or just in general having new actors play established characters for the sake of another movie?

6. This or That: both are good. an unexpected warm-up in spring might be slightly better because it builds hope and hope is a good thing.

ive never been to the desert to know how the sand is different. im guessing it must be coarser, so lets go with beach sand.

5. Aye or Nay: Replacement actors?... Nay, it's an unavoidable distraction

Raking leaves ? My philosophy is to leave them where they fall for the bugs and critters and soil - much to the chagrin of everyone else on the property. Good grief, we live in the country !!!

6. This or That: Movie/Book first ?... prefer the book first since the movies take too many liberties.

I wonder to what extent its a habit we've gotten into, or if it has its roots in code enforcement (hey it looks bad). I used to just mow over them to help the deterioration. so a reluctant aye.

6. This or That: I think when we go book first, the movie can often be a disappointment because we want fidelity to the origin. if we go movie first, then when we read the book we're just more or less looking for differences without making a value judgment.

I don't know that ive ever heard a hip-hop song ive liked, so jazz it is.

2. Two Word Game: lime rickey (when I was a kid we had a local store called "the pop shoppe" and they sold all sorts of interesting flavors you wouldn't find in the traditional stores. lime rickey was one of them. also, im from western ny state. when we all went off to college and met people from the long island, nyc areas, began the heated parochial clash of whether "pop" or "soda" was the correction designation. now just to be linguistically safe, never knowing when someone im talking with might have grown up on "lon gisland" I say "soda pop.")

3. Word Association Game: peelin'

4. Song Title Game: My God is Real -- Johnny Cash

5. Aye or Nay: im reminded of a part of the 2002 Olympic Games opening ceremony in Sydney, a woman sang a song called Heroes Live Forever. they don't, but we sure want them to, and in our memories we try to make it so. so when they have the opportunity to continue on in the fiction world, and they don't, it seems disappointing.

hmm, I cant think back to anything ive read or watched when I felt the movie was ruined by that. so either im less of a critical consumer than I thought, or im not bothered by it. so i'll go with another tentative aye.

ketchup on eggs?

6. This or That: this question was asked in some national internet survey bunches of years ago and mary ann won hands down. for sure the sensuality of ginger is appealing, but the seemingly commensurate high maintenance and narrow life applicability arent. 5. Aye or Nay: I live at the base of a very hill dirt road that goes up to other residences above me. unless you have all wheel drive with chains, you cant make it up in winter. yesterday a neighbor sent me an email asking if I would bring up a pizza that his son would be delivering. I said sure, he wrote back saying he'd have him bring a couple extra slices for me. they had ranch dressing on them and were delicious. these particular ones didn't have tomato sauce on them, but ive had ranch dressing with pizza made like that too and liked it, so aye either way.

5. Aye or Nay: the ending of #4 certainly allows for more, but I wonder about a 5th one. at some point I guess the free humans (and maybe the viewing audience?) wouldn't be satisfied until everyone is free...or at least the ones who want to be. what would you want the next chapter to be about?

ive never done that but ive always liked rocks and scavenging in general is fun, so i say aye.

tv advertising for professional sports gambling?

6. This or That: although stan lee did tons of cameos tailor, he wasn't an actor, he was always the executive producer and he was that, at least, by virtue of having been the creator of most of the characters from back in the comic book days. im not sure though how much say he had in the movies makings and how much his title/role was honorary. that's an interesting question. its fun to watch the movies and look for his cameos. comic book wise as a kid, I was partial to DC, but I think marvel has far outdone them in the cinema realm. I cant speak really to tv series, although im really enjoying the dvd collection of Agents of Shield.

i don't watch enough animated movies to be able to pick, but lemme go with Disney because of the theme parks. no wait, lemme go with Pixar because they are new to the game and are an underdog. no wait, lemme go with Disney because they've gotten their hands into marvel and star wars and who knows what else. no wait, lemme go with Pixar because Disney cant keep their woke selves from betraying their shareholders. no wait, lemme go with Disney because of snow white, and cinderella, and sleeping beauty, and peter pan, and jungle book, and Pinocchio, and Dumbo...

5. Aye or Nay: who doesn't like more cow bell??

deja vu's are mysterious, but still fun. so aye to them.

this is a sort of tricky one---movies or tv shows where the plot is dependent on the main characters continually misunderstanding something essential about each other? like a case of mistaken identity for instance.

6. This or That: my comic book history had both but leaned a little towards DC---superman, flash, aquaman, green lantern and batman.

that sounds like a pretty good super bowl too. I think any of those 6 teams probably would be.

I like them both but its hard to beat the epic event that a game of risk is, so I go with risk. alas I haven't played in a long time though.

also, I want everyone in the world to listen to chloe kohanski's live performance on the voice of Fleetwood mac's landslide, made lightly less enjoyable by miley cyrus' interjections but still outstanding!

if you gave that a try and liked it, give her live performance of blondie's call me a listen too.

1. Say the Next Word: (thank you. maybe i'll hunt up the script sometime to check my memory). I had to resort to the dictionary where I was dismayed to find it doesn't have any "IE" words, so im going to borrow the rules for #3 below and apply them here. kablam!

2. Two Word Game: your song (by Elton john)

3. Word Association Game: spock (tailor are you getting the reference from your favorite star trek movie?)

4. Song Title Game: I don't know that version, i'll have to check it out.

long train running -- the doobie brothers

5. Aye or Nay: I grew up watching candid camera and enjoying it so you think I might say yes, but I wouldn't like the idea of getting pranked myself so im hard pressed to believe I could do it to someone else. so nay. that's an odd mix isn't it?

popcorn with garlic salt?

6. This or That: such a marked different in their sound from beginning to end wasn't there? more often than I liked work, and worked lots of weekends and so hump day was never that big of a deal, but in so much as Friday heralded the weekend, and some change of pace, id go with Friday, and even thank god for it. even though I don't think ive ever eaten at one.

a vacation to a bustling metropolis with tons of traditional places to visit (restaurants, museums, events, stores, etc) or a quiet getaway to a remote place with only what you can bring in your car?

1. Say the Next Word: leprechaun

2. Two Word Game: bird shot

3. Word Association Game: Lisbeth salander

4. Song Title Game: the world is not enough by garbage, from the movie of the same name but without sean connery.

5. Aye or Nay: we would have to stretch the meaning of "organized" but if I still had people to train with, I could see myself still doing bike races and doing the bike leg of team triathlons. so aye. apart from me personally, I see great worth in people of all ages having things set up for them in order to partake---church leagues, tavern leagues, YMCA leagues, bowling leagues, etc.

books on tape?

6. This or That: I have a lean towards the remote but if I had a hot chick side kick who preferred the other, I could have a great time at that too. I don't think it be san Francisco though. hmmm, I don't know where...

potato chips (along with flavored pretzel pieces) are by far my favorite junk food vice. locally the only canned kind you can get are lays and pringles. but you can also buy lays in bags. pringles have a unique flavor that's enjoyable, but I think the variety of all the rest of the bagged kinds makes up for any of the uniformity and lack of crushing you get in a can. so bagged it is!

i'll put a few here by way of assuring the background for an answer:

(feel free to answer them all if you can!)

trapper McIntyre or bj hunnicut?

hermione with ron Weasley or alternatively ending up with harry?

6. there was a robot who appeared on lost in space other than "the robot"---was that "Robbie" I wonder?

that's a fun question. I enjoyed Dumbledore #1 but I think the vigor required by the story later on would have been outside his abilities at the time. so Dumbledore #2 it is!

heck danik, from what I can tell, its part my fault because ive been a Johnny-come-lately prodigal but its only you and tailor and one other fellow that have been holding down the 99.9% of the fort.

The other fellow being Peter L. But I think there are people that enjoy playing the games, but not necessarily 6 at a batch.

the irony there danik is that I think when pompey coalesced the bunch of games into one thread it was probably because so many of them were hanging by a thread. pun intended!

your hypothesis is there are game lurkers on the site. which game or two do you think they want to play? or maybe try to resurrect all six to see if anyone joins in?

Danik 2016
01-17-2023, 09:48 PM
Lol! If I rightly remember the most popular of the six was The Song Title Game. Maybe it's the case of resurrecting one or two separately and see what happens. If someone prefers the complete reboot, it's there too.

lol, pompeybum got tired of posts getting buried from the plethora of game posts... so the six game reboot served a purpose of sorts that no longer exists. I'll try to dig up the old song title thread to start :)

DONE :)
