Hello, everyone I’m new to this site and really hope you can help me. I’m trying to find a poem my gran used to say to me but am really struggling to remember to exact words. My gran was born in 1922 and it was a poem she learned at school and stayed with her her entire life.
The general idea is it’s about a son who had been thought to have been killed in the war returns home unexpectedly as is dad is walking the cows down the lane maybe the cows names are Bess and belle and one other, not 100% on that but those names ring a bell. Also the son has an arm missing and the sleeve hangs loose. Not much to go on but any help would be much appreciated.
