I just heard that one of America's wittiest writers has shuffled off this here mortal coil: Russell Baker (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/22/business/media/russell-baker-dead-pulitzer.html)(1925-2019.)

Best known as a newspaper columnist and a memoirist, Mr. Baker received two Pulitzer Prizes. Some of the more -- let's say "mature"-- NitLetters may remember him as the successor to Alastair Cooke as the host of Masterpiece Theatre. But yours fooly really is "old enough to remember"* an extremely funny column (https://www.nytimes.com/1981/08/30/magazine/sunday-observer.html) Mr. Baker wrote way back in 1981.
Take a look at it if you can

*This is true, not just a trendy phrase I mentioned in my recent post about Banished Words in the General Writing forum.
