Let’s get the weather forecast now,
Following the settled spell
It’s now unsettled
Having been married I’m now divorced
I was hungry now I’m full
I brushed my teeth
Now I have dirty teeth
I was Young now I’m old
I was hard now I’m soft
People are gone forever
Nobody says anything
I awoke this morning
for the 19,615th time
And did much the same
Give or take
I could set my coat on fire
Or murder somebody
Or help a stranger
Or catch a plane to somewhere
Sharpen a pencil
Until there is no pencil left
Pretend I have a dog and walk it.
But the weather is unsettled
Following the settled spell
So I’m doing nothing
Whatsoever
At all.

I loved your poem. Good stuff. Pretending to help a stranger may in some strange way lead to actually helping a stranger to pretend to help a stranger...Which is the more interesting thing? The stranger or The pretending?

As yours fooly has said of the years, your verses have a strong "voice." Another feature that's just occurred to me (after reading your Nov 7 posting) is your attempt to capture a spirit of place (setting) in a concrete way.
