I just found this funny quote from by Mark Twain and wanted to share it. :D

"When I was sixteen years old I thought my father was the stupidest person in the world. When I was eighteen years I was amazed at what he had learned in just two years."

Yeah my favorite quote from him is (I'm paraphrasing) 'When angry, count to four. When very angry, swear.'

"After all these years, I see that I was mistaken about Eve in the beginning, it is better to live outside the Garden with her than inside it without her." -Mark Twain-

It's not a small, compact quote, but I think his 'nicotine nannies' letter (http://smokegeeks.com/cigars/3-cigar-news-and-musings.html) is an excellent rant, and still applies quite well in modern times. (DISCLAIMER: I'm a pipe smoker, so I'm somewhat biased in favor of this essay) The same can be said for his commentary on Congress. And yes, the quote about his father is brilliant.

EDIT: Actually, that article does have one excellent, succinct quote in it:

"I haven't a particle of confidence in a man who has no redeeming petty vices."
