Would Winston be classified as a tragic hero? I believe he possesses some kinds of tragic hero traits, he makes an error in judgement in his being with Julia, and rebelling. With this lack of judgement he, and most likely Julia as well, will be vaporized.

I believe Winston would indeed be classified as a tragic hero. He stands no chance in putting down the party and it can easily be inferred he will be vaporized.
