My name is Jorik, I'm from Holland and I'm in the 10th grade. I read Animal Farm for my first English essay this year.
How Orwell took the first years of Communism and made something so hilarious but yet so beautiful is anyones guess. The caracthers, based on real people or not, have a very vivid personality and no event in this book sounds too surreal. It is not a very long book, yet it says more than any 500+ page book. The Battle between Trotski and Stalin who were transformed into Snowball and Napoleon is made understandable for everyone. Napoleon, the Stalin-figure, copies his human predecessor perfectly. His lies and fraud, brought to the other animals by Squealer, are just as harsh and convincing as Stalin's; the other animals simply don't know! Also the destroying of the seven commandments is very recognisable.
I could go on for ours but I just want to tell everyone reading this that you all should read this book!!!!! (how strange, I'm beginning to sound like Napoleon after all....)
