No more sevens
To miss a go
When I can’t pick up
No more wild cards
To change the suit
When I can't put down
No more aces
To keep playing
My hand
No more shuffling
Cutting
Or dealing
No more score keeping

I'm surprised that this little gem hasn't provoked more af a response, Delta. It's been languishing for a week and barely anyone has read it. What a crime.
Well I have read it, And I like it. The economy of style and elegance of expression convey so much, with the simple metaphor of card games. The ambiguity leaves the reader speculating. Can this be a break up, or a new beginning. Both are possible and even simultaneously, though the use of split in the title implies the first option. Well done, Delta. Thanks for dropping your little enigma into my day.

You're as perceptive as ever Hawk. Thank you for your review.

Agree with Hawk. Always a good starting point. Like that you are posting again. Glad I'm not the only one who can't quite tire of it.

Really enjoyed this. Read to me as a breakup of which there are no more tricks to keep the game going. In love there are winners and losers, one has it easier to move on, I hate keeping score when Im losing.
