You may just be
As good a parent
As your children’s friends parents
Some people may well genuinely like you
You never know
You may be an ok human being
You will never have won or lost
There was no race
Something about sunsets
Something about lost love
Pain,cancer, bereavement
Something about pissing blood
About everybody being useless
A hairy mole, McDonald’s grease
Something sacreligous
A child screaming with bean juice
On its chin
Heartache and cigarettes
Love like leather face
And the sea
The sea, the sea, the sea
The sea.

Seems no matter who we are, we all get a seaside memory. You're a profound poet Jerry

I doubt it Lesley, but thank you for ever letting that thought form.

Really enjoyed this poem, Jerry. And I do agree that you are indeed a profound poet.
