Role Playing Game: Lost in the Forest

Story
You are part of a group of soldiers lost in the forest. There are myths of all sorts of monsters hiding in the forest. You don't really believe the myths, but at the same time you can't help feeling scared. Your quest is to make it out of the forest. You have camping supplies, 8 days of food, a knife, and a pistol with you, so you are somewhat prepared for this.

The soldiers find a quiet glade and make camp for the night...

A shadow appears for a brief moment, and then disappears. It might be your imagination.

A couple of the guys forage around for wood bits and twigs for the evening fire, the crunching of the undergrowth deafening in the silence of the forest.

The soldiers hear a splashing sound nearby.

Not realizing that there was a water source nearby, the wood scavenging ceased, as each man held his breath to determine the distance...

The water source appears to not be very far away.

The splashing continued, and one of the men announced, "cover me", as he stealthfully crept closer to the sound of the water

There is a small pond, with clear water dripping from a tree. The water looks very tempting.

A twig snaps suddenly, unnerving the band of men headed in that direction...

A giant snake head, teeth dripping with clear venom, appears out of the trees.

The men froze in their tracks, unsure of what they were actually seeing right in front of them.
