Let us not speak
that which our hearts already know.
Let our eyes not bore holes
into each other's souls.

Let us not quiver
when the other is near,
and not tremble to touch
upon our bodies' fiery pyre.

Let us not reveal
the secrets of our hearts,
knowing that of which is unspoken,
wasn't possible from the start.

Let us not see a future to behold,
but instead hold onto a moment
and let it naturally unfold.

Let us live our lives
separate,
but not apart.
As friends who appreciate
one another
and not fearful to depart.

For true connection
is too much a treasure!
And it would be unjust
to have it simply be
a visceral pleasure.
