He is a man of God,
but still,
he is a man.

And who shall pray for us,
if not ourselves?

And everything I want to give to you:
gentle encouragements,
sweet nothings whispered in your ear.
Fingertips upon your lips
those fingers combing through your hair.
Soft touches,
Carresses upon your cheek.
Kisses within the crook of your neck,
every desire you could seek.
Side by side
heart to heart
hand in hand
never to part

I’ve already promised to him.

And who shall save me,
if not myself?
Though, I cannot,
for I have already failed.
And who shall save me
if not for you?
Surely, you'd flee me,
but no, you failed too.

And when you are far,
I feel the rift.
Trapped within dark waters,
alone and adrift.
And yet, when you are near
I feel the tears
of a hundred sins and soulful
fears.
But insurmountable joy too…

So, how do I find the light
when overshadowed by the night?
Bury myself within
or bury my kin?
To have you,
or to not,
There is no way for me
to win.

So I ask:
Who's to save us from this plight,
when we cannot save eachother,
if not God?

Beautiful introspection on one's faith when all seems to go wrong. Thank you for sharing Shadowlight.

LOL, Cacian, I tend to write when Im sad, so most my poems are. In response to your question; in something so destructive, God is the only means of forgiveness and thus healing.

Thank you tailor Stately, this seems one of the few places taboo subjects can expressed without disdain.

I guess that would be called praying.

I can think of worst things that are taboo. :)

Hi shadow
I'm not a fan of all things religious, but that didn't spoil my enjoyment of your writing and the main body of the poem which seemed tormented and heartfelt and was very well written.
