Phenylethylamine

God inflicts us with it
when we are vulnerable
he dresses us up for the pantomime
and sets us upon each other like pigs
good little pigs
it skews our mental processes towards him
and his way of being
which is best for all
he says and commands the structure of reality thusly
why do evil acts send you down
and good acts drive you up to him?
he made it so
to keep his garden clean
we are trapped in a tyrannical philosophy
that is failing by the day
as hell swells and heaven rises away from us like a lost balloon
but Phenylethylamine will save the day

For clarity, it is the chemical that is associated with the feeling of love.

I like the way that you weave your words.
Enjoyed, fudge.

Thanks guys. I don't write much poetry. Even though I've had three poems published long ago.

I enjoyed your poem. I’m not giving up on love though. Drug or no drug

Love the poem. A touch of Bukowski (I keep saying this compliment lately, lots of good poets as of recent, i dig it).
