She’s eating
Cheese and tomato
I can see the yellow of extra mature
The blood red tomato skin
The white of her teeth
The gloss of her lips
And the words leaving her mouth
Tripping over her lips
Buzzing the chrome toaster
Whirling in the kettle steam
Splatting on the window
‘B itch’
And ‘I said’ and ‘ she said’
A cherry tomato explodes between her lips
Peppering the room with shrapnel
Pips
It’s raining outside
Her teeth are yellow
Her gum disease bleeds red
The cheese has blue veins
The fridge is buzzing
It may be full of flies
Tomato juice is beading on my nose
The rain becomes hail
Tapping to come in
I cut a ham joint
It looks like human flesh
Needs mustard
She flicks her hair
And snowy flakes land on her
Self harmed arms
Still uncleansed
She swallows
I watch her neck contract
And the bolus reach her breasts
Her teeth are red
Ablaze with her nipples
Her belly is yellow
And her hair to her navel
Is as black as the sky outside
I wink and smile
Talk about Sheila and Sharon
Put cardboard in the cardboard bin
Bottles in the bottle bin
People in the people bin
Still she talks.
