A niggling twitch is all it takes
to unhitch a tense finger,
to pull on a trigger
that hammers me
and drives me
up a barrel.

Sent screaming into the world
bearing the teeth
of the intended bite of death,
delivering grievous bodily harm
to anyone in my way.

I'm a bullet, bite on this,
that my impact is undeniable.
The moment you register my departure
is the moment that marks my arrival.

Call me an old-fashioned killer,
a heartless intermediary,
i'm a flesh-seeking missile
that an intended host will not see.

Yes, sadly, i'm a bullet,
fashioned to some day make my mark,
slipped into an empty chamber,
sitting there, discreet,
a non-discriminating exterminator,
waiting in the dark.
