perhaps a feminist novel b/c it's about a woman (which back in the day was rare) she makes her own choices, goes her own way, doesn't marry till she really wanted to -which is a big deal b/c many woman married b/c they were supposed.

anti feminist novel maybe b/c she had to work for a uy that treated her bad...until he was blind and they fell in love. and of course how he kept his 1st wife locked up.....that's not cool!

In what ways might Jane Eyre be considered a feminist novel? What points does the novel make about the treatment and position of women in Victorian society? With particular attention to the book’s treatment of marriage, is there any way in which it might be considered anti-feminist?
