This is an edit of an older poem I worked on after a friend's death. The feeling of loss changed over time and I wanted to reflect that in this piece.

I walked in shadows hiding from the moon
sat by the lake we called our own
and shared my tears.
Merged together the waters glistened
-my heart still-
until the rising sun evaporated them.
The fog rose
and my grief covered the dawn
settled upon blades of grass, the boughs of trees,
the nests of robins, the awoken winds of a new day.
The lake became a mirror
And I could see your reflection within
the remnant memory of my tears.
Once again you were everywhere
we once were.
I ran through the meadows, hung upside down on tree limbs,
sung the songs of birds, and yelled your name
-my heart beating-
as it was carried away upon the unending wind.

A lovely poem in tribute to your friend.
I enjoyed it,

The imagery of the last 5 lines captured me the most. You had me once you were hung upside down on tree limbs. All the best.
