Finals...ugh! Are any of you college students. I am, and I just went through a wretched finals experience. In five days I probably slept as many hours. I just took my last final today, Organic II, and it completely destroyed me despite the fact that I spent 12 hours studying for it. If I don't get a C or better in the course I have to retake it! The worst part is that I'm a good student, My GPA is like a 3.6, and now I might have a D on my transcript! How will I ever get into a good grad. school! I hate science, and I hate chemistry!!!!!!!!!! :(

Did anyone else have a horrendous finals experience?

I hate science, I hate mathematics, and luckily enough I was allowed to drop them both after year 10. I completely understand what you mean, even though my exam periods wouldn't be as hard in year 11 as they are for you in university. I have my HSC exams next month, and the pressure for high school students is ridiculously intense. I can't wait to get out, really.

I'll get to experience that all over again. I was in nursing school and the course that did it for me was pharmacology. I spent so much time studing for that final that I barely studied for anything else. End result- I failed pharmacology by two points and my maternal child course by half a point. They refused to graduate me from the program unless I take the entire program all over again. I refused to pay them the money. So I'm going to a different school to study what I should have studied in the first place. Since my passion is reading, I want to teach high school literature.

Don't let my failing experience get you down, my point is if you fall off your horse, get right back on, even if it's a different horse. ;)

I hate latin. The latin final is looming over my head, worse than the math final.

I have a horror story for my Sophomore year (this year) semester Math final... It was only what, four pages long? (front and back)... It took me and several other people 8 hours. It was a beast. I am still so scarred-for-life that I must talk in clipped sentences.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is going through a very trying time with finals, but, good news, I made a C in Organic Chem. 2! I am traumatised though. I can't even bring myself to clean out my book and go through my notebook. I say I'm suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome- Flashbacks and everything! :D

It's knd of crazy the amount of stress that is put on people about making good grades. I swear they sometimes make it seem like your life will end if you don't succeed in what you're doing in school.

Shea, I'm so glad you swithched to english, and am incredibly jealous. I've been questioning myself since my freshman year as to whether I am in the right field, and now I'm a junior. I've always loved english, writing, art, and all that sort of thing; but for some bizarre reason I went into the sciences. I would give anything to go back in time and choose to do something else, but I guess I'll stick it out. I just decided to get an english minor, and hopefully it will assuage the wounds science incurred on my artistic temperment.

Munro, the greatest blessing in my life was to graduate highschool and never having to go back. Good luck! Do you know what you're planning on going to university for? I recommend you think very carefully instead of randomly choosing something like I did.

Foolonthehill, how did your test go? What level of mathematics was it? I hope it went better than any of my math experiences ever did. Do you like Latin at all? I was considering learning it because it always seemed so useful. Is it a waste of my time?

Lol... by the time I got down far enough to decide to post, I had forgotten this was about COllege level finals... I am a mere HIGH school Sophomore...

So the math level was Algebra 2.

As for Latin... I have no idea whether or not it is usefull... we learned nothing in our class... It was a complete waist of time for me.

BTW... I got an A on that test.... :-D :-D

Congats, "youthefoolonthehill". I wasn't so successful with my finals, I have to repeat one of the subject in September 'cause I flunked it  . But it wasn't as horrible as the teachers kept telling us. In the beginning I was almost a nervous wreck, so the first subject was the worst until I found out it could've been worse. Then it was all better and my grades grew better from subject to subject. And I was studying for the subject (it was Czech, BTW) the most of the time, only to read all my notes lasted me nine hours. The last three days before the exams I haven't even slept an hour. The finals aren't worth the stress one is going through because of it. But that's only my opinion, your finals could look completely differently than ours ;) . Good luck to everyone who's about to go through it! You're certainly going to pass it!

Oh, don't worry piquant, I'm going to do an Arts degree at university majoring in English literature, journalism and doing a minor course in Psychology. Then I'm getting outta hear and moving to Europe. But I got 17 months left of high school in between me and that lecture room seat, so until then I have to study for exams, read books, get drunk and sleep through maths :)
