When reading 1984 one of the major things is the inexperienced in everything emotional. While Winston and Julia have had other relationships that being sexually or marriage they don't follow what you would call a first real relationship. This makes the relationship they have almost like a first emotionally, yet they still struggle to comprehend that at some points. This almost reminds me of middle schoolers and how immature the relationships they have mostly are.
