What I think the phrase " contentment need not content less for being minor " means is that there is may be a way to compare contentments or pleasures (perhaps many different ways) but that ordering relationship does not translate into the experience of the contentment itself. An objectively minor contentment may feel just as good to the one experiencing it as a major contentment.

To put this more generally: An ordering relationship need not be preserved when one domain is mapped to another.
