Reptile and . . . . . . . . . (Ok, so, I have been rusty so I think this gets better as it goes on.) . . . . 18 verses, 70 lines, etc. . . a bit less than an hour.
Ode to Reptilia and the Reptile God
Dearest friend of my heart --
Sweetest friend of the heart --
Though we are apart -
Woven into nature's art
From childhood my friend;
Turtle, spirit of the world --
Cousin, the deity serpentine,
The heart of music and life woven -
Reptile, oh - and reptile God -
Hiding in the thicket of Life
The secret of perfect Peace
The highet secret above.
Ah - beautiful is life,
Ancient friend to mammal,
And ancestor of the bird -
Dear childhood friend,
Never spoke a word;
You are close to the bird -
And home in forest growth;
Peaceful guardian of the land,
A mis-represented animal -
To all of your kind I gift --
Verse, heart to lift and uplift --
You are completely bright my mind,
You shine in from time to time --
And woven in the world,
You are quite unmistakeable,
It's my blessing to implore you --
To shine in my life some more, you.
ah -- bountiful is life;
Reptile Bright and grafted Royalty,
Hey, you have got my loyalty.
From out of time you came --
Timeless - without name.
One day a year is little enough -
To adore thee -- oh my friend;
Your heart is heaven's trough,
Your timelessness no end.
My eyes spark and brighten wide,
When I ever felt your presence,
Heard your familiar rustle --
My breath. . . more than a little.
ah, heavenly is life --
Reptile - perfectly - peace's master.
Your heart - my heart - one pastor.
I close my eyes to feel your thread
When I am blind you see infrared.
Reptile - oh, you are lightning fast --
You also have infinite patience;
It drew me to your presence,
Master of present and past.
So many times you lived before,
Time basked upon the shore, --
Perfect peace, glad to be
A perfect symphony.
Peaceful, beautiful --
Nature's creation, perfect, unchanging,
I could never exhaust the store --
Of thoughts of heart-felt love -- nor
Complete a sentence of your praise for. . .
All words for you are words for beauty,
And praise for you praise for the divine --
Your heart and symphony are of nature,
In perfect rhapsody of the sublime.
Oh my friend -- from now 'til time,
Your life and light beyond description --
The circles of your heart - stillness,
And movement - an inscription.
I merely pale for lack of words,
Close friend of mine, from timeless time,
-- And so I will sing to all the winds --
When all around me, all my friends,
Mother's peace and quiet, sublime -- (the)
Oldest friendship, yours and mine.
