"HEART and HANDS" By O. HENRY, why is so?

:rolleyes: Pls someone tell me, why does "hearts and hands" by o. henry was titled that way? what was the connection between the title and the story?tnx

I assume it's just a reference to the Marshal's good-heartedness while bound by the hand to the criminal. Of course, you could say it refers to the hearts of the woman and Easton, but I dunno! Either way, all three engaged their hearts through the story (Marshal caring, woman and Easton affectionate) and in joining hands with Easton, you could say that the woman connects to both men.

But then, I'm talking out the top of my head! ;)
