May must be forced to resign. She is a thug in sheep's clothing. Corbyn's power is increasing daily. He ran a good campaign! This victory is only the beginning. The British people are tired of austerity!

The election was the biggest miscalculation since Goliath decided to take on David in single combat. The mass media was mobilised to build up her “strong and stable” image and attack, smear and discredit Jeremy Corbyn. But the more people saw robotic Mrs. May, the more they disliked her. The fiasco of the bungled manifesto pledge to make old people pay for social care and the withdrawal of winter fuel subsidy for pensioners, swiftly followed by an undignified U-turn alienated many Tory core voters. To make matters worse, her refusal to participate in leadership debates or take questions from ordinary people created an impression of political cowardice.

In unvanquishable number-
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you
Ye are many--- they are few.”

Agreed, quite an astonishing outcome. I get the feeling that people chose to use the election to revise their positions quite substantially.

Post send to me as PM by DW, because of posting dificulties.

The first election for some time whose result has not depressed me. Everyone is being nasty about Theresa May but A if we have to have a Tory PM we could do far worse and B Brexit has left any PM in an impossible position.

But I'm glad to see that Britain's overwhelmingly right wing press has had little effect this time. Mind you, it wouldn't have any power unless a lot of people (including thousands of working class readers) didn't buy the trash.

Nice to see UKIP thrashed. Pity the Tory Home Secretary only just held on to her seat. If only Labour would not stand where there's a chance of Lib Dems ousting Tories (as they did in the Richmond by election earlier this year) we might still have a hung parliament, but at least not the Tories.

Pardon my ignorance, but how far leftish is Corbyn? He has been described here in the states by David Brooks (columnist of N.Y. Times) as a "Bernie Sanders times 10."

I'm not sure of your scale of leftishness. Since as far as I can make out, by European standards the US Democratic Party is a conservative party (which is a matter primarily of economic policy,) all Labour politicans for the first eight tenths of the C20 were well to the left of any Democrat, as far as I can make out. (I am not aware of Saunders' specific policies.)

Corbyn is Old Labour - a term coined by the supporters of Tony Blair who defined themselves as New Labour, Old Labour proving at that time unelectable, however unpopular Margaret Thatcher was.

His rhetoric is certainly far to the left of any allowed in the Labour Party front bench for the past 20 years. He doesn't bother to sooth the middle class vote.

May is an absolute piece of ****, so it's fine if she goes; Corbyn seems like an alright guy, though I dislike most of his policies. The U.K should elect Farage, obviously.
