Memorial Day, is that the same as Ascension? Same date in any case.

No, it's a national remembrance day for those who perished in war. It was instituted as Decoration Day after the American Civil War but nowadays is more generalized. It's always the last Monday in May, and just happens to coincide with Ascension Day this year. :)
