Back then I saw the sun rise every day.
Its light didn’t reach me stuck in shadow,
It mocked me and left me to waste away.

But then i saw no sun for many days.
I thought it would never again be shown.
I stopped looking and let my eyes decay.

I saw the sun return again one day.
Its fiery rays were so harshly thrown;
They burned the sky, a frightening display.

I saw the sun rise up the other day,
Its same fire now an inviting glow,
Still scared, but I almost wished it would stay.

I saw the sun rise higher yesterday.
This time I reached out. I left my shadow.
All along it had been my choice to make.

I feel the sun rising on this new day!
And I will feel it again tomorrow.
Now I know that control is mine to take,
I’m ready to go on my lighted way.

Poems may reveal different meanings to different persons. Here the poem about the sun is mentioning about the control and attitude of a person. On first day the sun rays didn't reach him because he was behind the shadows. At last he left his shadows and sun rays directly fall on him. This poem describes the personality of the character. He was somewhat shy to be in front of others hence he doesn't get the sun rays. When time passes he lost the shadows and he get courage to face anyone or anything that happens to him.
