View Full Version : Lightweight text editor for writing?

Can anyone recommend a good lightweight text editor?
I used to use Win XP's Wordpad and it was perfect for my purposes, but now I updated to Win 10 and the new Wordpad has the problem that it has a default setting of putting spaces between paragraphs and a greater line spacing than I like. The default setting can't be changed.
I'm looking for something VERY simple and lightweight. Outside of writing, all I'd like to be able to do is bold, underline and change font color, that's it.
It would be great if the thing was portable (not requiring an install), too.

I use Note Tab Lite for simple documents http://www.notetab.com/notetab-light ... it's free in this configuration.
Possible solutions with Win 10 Word Pad: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/setting-default-line-spacing-in-wordpad/5d11ac2c-e578-4aac-b805-e96897329df4
"On the Home tab, click the Line Spacing icon and un-check the Add 10pt space after paragraphs box." https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/how-to-change-wordpad-line-spacing/328d127b-6bb3-4df3-abbf-fb840f888b19?db=5

I'll look into Note Tab Lite.
I got through my MA using open office.
But that's more of a heavy program, I think, like Word. I'm looking for something very light like Wordpad.
