Unlike most others, I read this book for enjoyment. Needless to say, i enjoyed it very much indeed, hence being moved to write a comment upon it here. I also feel the need to criticise the views of some that the book is somehow 'soppy' or 'romantic'. It quite clearly is not; at least, I believe that it is instead a demonstration of the strongest possible human passions and emotions, and to me it has represented a lesson for life. That is, that love and anger alike should not be supressed if that is what you truly feel and that the phrase 'milk-blooded coward' means to me the most unhuman person possible. Heathcliff and Cathy are ideal humans: real people with real feelings.
