I'm a retired Englishman living on the south coast. I'm 75 and fairly well read it with no higher education. I retired at age 61 and set about making up for my lack of education but I found some subjects difficult. My IQ is about 105 as tested by myself on line.
I enjoy reading others opinions and now and again commenting.

Welcome, Magnocrat! Most of what I know about a lot of topics originated from engaging in conversations with people here in these forums. Of course, I would also do online searching for more information and the local library is pretty good, but I wouldn't have even thought about those topics without some thread bringing the ideas to my attention. It is not always about literature. Here are some topics:

1) I found out there was a big bang.
2) I found out what black holes are and realized that I don't think they exist.
3) I found out that the US might not have sent humans to the Moon during the Apollo mission.
4) I found out that parallel universes are absurd.
5) I found out more about the EU than I care to recall.
6) I found out about quantum physics.
7) I am recalling some mathematics I forgot long ago.

And the list goes on.
