Around a fire, we sat an afternoon
Knowing not but we shall leave soon.
A villager came and sat for a while
Being tired out of borders, he came
Long mustaches he has wearing a turban
His face is yellow as if was feverish
He said, a herdsman had come there
I lost four sheep two days before
And "my tribe citizens have a trouble with"
They triggered a war because of a child
Someone by mistake has shot him
And the father's boy wants a blood money.
Those do not pay and seek for war.
We smiled on his face saying; take a rest
A woman stepped in, saying, by force!
This camel to slaughter and you may eat
She is a daughter of sheikh of a well prestige
Her father hurried and picked out a tool
Four camels he paid of his own herd
The man turned satisfied and went well

I am surprised that "blood money" can make someone satisfied for the life of the child. Is that the mother who steps in later in the poem?

Yes, they would satisfy, not to revenge but to take blood money. If not taking a blood money they would either kill instead, so blood money is better to keep the peace.
