Salty water and the paddlers have to push deep
Inside a marsh which almost it has a slow neap
The flying water birds as if were welcome us
Busily wings between sedges as far as to keep
And the marshy reeds above eyes may leap
A good fortune to loose yourself going steep
But it is the marsh nature is highly surfaced
And to go you will never know where to go
Unless someone shouted, you are ever to south
And people there always are great and honest
Supporting your needs or even a place to sleep
Their women look good and nicely welcome
They Scythe all day as well to offer a fodder.
To their buffalos, they do the best
At night, you would have a pleasant chat
Sons and wives of those would gather around you
For a midnight, until you give a permission
And you ever had a safely sleep having a full rest
In morning, they would offer you a strong coffee
Then they would escort you until peacefully reach

Are the marsh Arabs real or only a metaphor? They seem like people who are hospitable to strangers.

Iraqi Marsh Arabs
---------------------
Marsh Arabs are real nation who chose a marsh for a resident place they belong to many tribes and the name M'hdan often is associated with them now no one referring to them by their traditional name. They have schools to learn their children and many healthy dispensaries have been established especially in the main regions of those as they made their houses near or above water by gathering woods and especially reeds for building their houses. Gavin Young has published a book about them which its name (Return to the marshes) its first edition has issued in 1998- the book is not free yet you can find it at Amazon library.
He for the first time visited the region as the book mentioned at 1950 companying with a fellow who has the tendency for visiting new areas or areas yet are unknown.

I myself wrote something about the book in this forum.
I wonder too much to the fortune of this British author who worked as a low actuary for ships in Basra port in that time. He mentioned precisely in his book even the tiny issues for example names of the tribes chiefs of those people as well as names of all fellows who escorting him. He gives a back shadow about the history of those people referring to the first nations who settling the place at the time of Abraham Prophet which they are the Sumerians.
Cavin tried putting relationship between those people who settling the marshes now and those of ancient time. I think but I accept with him into this view of study. At the time of Saddam, the area has been totally exposed for dryness according to Saddam policy to displace those people as he saw that they are a source of danger threatening his regime.
