I hated this book! I don't understand where you people pull out that this was one of the best novels of the 19th century and all that. This story is depressing beyond belief, and I had the great unfortune to be assigned Wuthering Heights at a time when I was already a bit down. I have to write a paper on it now, using three criticisms on it as sources, and I will admit that the analysis makes it a little better (think Old Man and the Sea). As for just reading it, though, this book is borderline dangerous for someone who's already depressed... could induce suicide or something... horrible book! Doesn't deserve half as much praise as it gets! If you want a GOOD Victorian novel, read Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre! THAT is a love story!
