I read Wuthering Heights when I was twelve and what captured my imagination was the setting of the 'wiley, windy' moors. It is not just a novel which reflects the passion and torment of the Earnshaws, Lintons, and Heathcliffs, but also the ruggered environment in which the story takes place. The moods and emotions of the moors are not a secondary feature of Wuthring Heights, but seep into the characters, shaping who and what they are. The moors and their dominating presence are always there, throughout the story. Now I am sixteen and preparing a speech on Wuthering Heights for<br>my classmates. I hope I can convey some of the same brooding feeling that the moors cast, for without it, Wuthering Heights would not be the novel which I have come to love and admire like no other.
