Hi! We are writing a final project for the subject English. In this rather elaborate peace of work we are discussing how Geoffrey of Monmouth’s 12-th century book The History of the Kings of Britain was one of the first authors to create the Arthurian legend as we know it today.
A part that we would also like to discuss in our work is which sources and earlier works Geoffrey of Monmouth must have used for his portrayal of Arthur and other characters he introduced to the Arthurian legend.
We read that Geoffrey most likely used Nennius his book Historia Brittonum, but is someone able to explain which elements Geoffrey probably derived from Nennius his work or maybe some other ealier works that Geoffrey might have used?
