Hi all! Brand new on here but thought i'd jump in and ask a question.

Does anyone possibly know what D.H Lawrence was referring / alluding to in the final line of the poem "Let there be Light" from Chapters Into Verse? He goes from talking about how the creation of the earth was a farce to "George Washington's Grandpapa" as a closing statement. I'm unsure about whether this was a comical tool to highlight the perceived absurdity that heaven / God was real or it had some other meaning.

Thanks so much in advance! :)

I've not read anything by D. H. Lawrence, but surely someone on LitNet has, and can answer your question, or at least discuss it with you.
