There’s a monster from within
The capital „D“
Once it casts a shadow
The darkness never leaves
It’s here to stay
Constantly
Following your every step
Eternally
It eats up your soul
Devours you from within
The worst enemy to have
For it is unseen
No gun can shoot it down
No knife can cut it out
You bleed to death from the inside
Without any wounds or scars for others there to see
It holds you tied, you can’t escape
It never dies
Always survives
Sometimes wide awake, sometimes it‘s asleep
But every insecurity, every fear, every slight touch of pain can wake it up
Every beating of the heart can unleash it
Can open up the door and invite it in
For another round
Another war
You raise your hands for the color black
And crawl in your cave
And bleed
Every step forward seems to throw you three steps back
Every breath of air seems to choke you even more
Loneliness
Isolation
Powerlessness
Disorientation
It never ends, it always will be
