I regret the guitar treasures,
That private hoard of solace
At the edge of where the ear grows.

I’d take back those
Masterpieces of love and song
And love poetry ladled by tongue
To the caustic sands of your heart.

I want the purple sentiments
Of thousand-spiced nights
And my own words that were glittering stars—
I want them forgotten,
Sifted from the acids and proteins
Of memory
As if they never were.
