i read this book for ap english lit. and it was awesome, apart fromt he begining that is. after reading the book, and charlotte bronte's comments on the book, i have to agree that this was a love story, an intense and life controling kind of love, but that's true love. i believe cathrine said that she is heathcliff and heathclif is her. apart, none of them could trully be happy.
I do believe that Emily Bronte created the characters of little cathy and i believe hereton (the boy heathcliff raised) to show that she does want cathy and heathclif to be together. cathy was just like her mother, in looks and attitude, and hereton was inessence heathcliff. without the obstacles that heathcliff and cathy1 faced, the two were able to show their affections for each other, and achieve the love that heathcliff and cathy1 could have had.

for those who think Cathy1 was selfish and spoild, i have to disagree. her actions were done so with Heathcliff in mind. i believe she said she married Linton so she could continue to provide security for heathcliff. with Heathcliff's status and her brother's attitude towards him, she could not possible contribute to his demise. Linton was her way of protecting Heathcliff.
she wasnt ewntirely selfish when she tried to warn isabel about Heathcliff, nor when she tried to inform heathcliff to stay away from isabel.

all in all if you are a sucker for true love, british lit, and intense emotrional readings, Wuthering heights is the book for you.

Ps. if you have to read this book for a class, please dont take the fun out of it , it is a great book to analyze.

At first when started to read this book I thought that it was rather boring but after the first few chapters I began to develp an extreme interest for this book. I just kept reading and reading. Emily Bronte had truly done an amazing job in writing this book. It is full of compassion, and love. I have learnt so much through this novel, if you love somone it is very important that you tell them how you feel.... and it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor love is love you cannot control your feelings and you can love whom ever you want to.
I loved how Bronte portrayed the ending... having Heathcliff buried next to his love that just made me fall in love with the novel even more. It indicated how much he really did love Catherine and how they were destined to be together dead, or alive. Its true when they say that you only, truly fall in love once, and I think that meaning was displayed and shown beautifully....
So i advise you to read this book it gives you a wonderful insight to what love actually means!
