Being a Vegetable

Here it's nothing but
gleeful green
as I crouch
among crisp
wet leaves.
So I'm a little
wind-blown and
patch eaten
but after all this time
I'm laughing,
thriving under
our shine.
Any moment now
I'll leap up,
burst out
in beautiful sprouts
No longer
am I worried about
all the bugs.
Nothing is eating me
anymore.

Gratified to see that this one is refreshingly light-hearted and not some downer about being in a coma, as lesser versifiers would put it. But you always seem to pick bright, if unusual topics. If yours fooly were a vegetable, I'd probably be an artichoke, because I have aesthetic pretensions. Plus most folks would like to strangle me.
